In the dressage sections it is mainly the so-called ‘older’ stallion which are most important: proven ‘top progenitors’ are brought in to show what they can do. What is new is the international participation of young riders, juniors and pony riders in both show jumping and dressage. Thus, this year the international youth is also represented at Zwolle International. It is also the first time that the biggest prize offer in the history of basic level sport in Zwolle will be distributed at the finals of the Hippo Zorg Jumping Challenge in the classes L, M, Z and ZZ.
‘The Most Beautiful Harness Horse Evening of the Year’ on Wednesday 13 February is a real crowd-puller where visitors wearing wooden clogs are allowed in for half price. Other highlights are the various stallion shows by stallion management establishments such as Henstenhouderij Oldenhof, Dekstation de Watermolen and Stal Roelofs. As well as all this, the new crop of stallions will be presented. There is also the progeny championships – a unique jumping competition where teams of three horses with the same sire compete with each other. It will be seen which sire has produced the best sport horses. A completely different type of performance is ‘De Haerst’ by pianist Jan Vayne.
On Thursday 7 February during the national dressage day, the Moorland Competition will take place. This is a national dressage show performed by the best fifteen participants that have already been placed in the finals at the event of Hippisch Hengelo in Twente. Here in Zwolle- while performing in the Prix St. Georges- candidates compete once again for a place in the finals which will be held in De Steeg at Outdoor Gelderland taking place at Middachten Country Estate.
