From Wednesday 28 February until Sunday 4 March, there will be about hundred fifty stallions taking part in Zwolle International. The competition organisers and visitors can already look forward to an extremely strong field of participants: in both show jumping and dressage there will be the best licensed stallions from various stud books from both home and abroad taking part in the battle for the prestigious titles of Best, Promising, Young and Future Stallion.
The aim of the organisers of the stallion competition is to bring out the best Dutch stallions and a great number of extremely interesting stallions from abroad. There has been massive enrolment amongst Dutch stallion owners. Under those that will make an appearance in the competition ring are Wout Jan van der Schans with Broere Maroon (sire: Contango), Broere VDL Pacific (sire: Corland) and Sir Corland (sire: Corland), Wim Schröder with Eurocommerce Vancouver (sire: Le tot de Semilly), Rogier Linssen with Liefhebber’s Patent (sire: Colino), Ben Schröder with BMC Rubert R (sire: Mermus R) and Jeroen Dubbeldam with BMC Chiquitin La Silla (sire: Chin Chin) and BMC Untouchable (sire: Hors la Loi II). Those from abroad that will be taking part in the show jumping are also surprisingly interesting. The renowned Germans Ullrich Kirchhoff and Gerd Sosath will be taking part. Sosath will bring out the stallions Chalan (sire: Chambertin) and Catoki (sire: Cambridge). Also the English Philip Spivey with Ramanov II (sire: Heartbreaker), the English Deborah Jackson with Larino (sire: Concorde), Gerfried Puck from Austria with VDL Mirage (sire: Caretino) and the Belgian Dennis van Tilburg with VDL Alcantino (sire: Ahorn) and VDL Hold up Premier (sir: Narcos II) will be there. And not least taking part in Zwolle International is the young German show jumper Torben Köhlbrandt who will bring out, amongst others, Concept II (sire: Concerto II) in the IJsselhallen.
In the Grand Prix dressage for the title of Stad Zwolle Best Stallion, Kirsten Beckers will bring out Broere Jazz (sire: Cocktail). Also offspring off this stallion will pay his respects in the dressage arena, Ferenc Damen with Westrade’s Ursus will start in the Future Stallion and Annemiek Vincourt with Wijdewomer’s Riant in the Schoonmaakbedrijf Kalshoven Promising Stallion. As well as this Imke Schellekens-Bartels, Remy Bastings and Hans Peter Minderhoud will take part in the most demanding classes. There will be opposition from abroad in the form of, amongst others, the French Sylvie Corellou with Helio II (sire: Flamenco XII), Patrick Kittel with Hesslegårds Weltmeister (sire: Weltmeyer) from Sweden, the Japanese Toshihiko Kiso with Corrado (sire: Cortez), the Portuguese Daniel Pinto with Galopin de la Front (sire: Espanto) and the German Andrea Landy-Silling with Laverno S NRW (sire: Lanciano) and Münchhausen TSF (sire: Hohenstein).
